For those who say what can we do about the Big Oil Companies'''''''' unfair and unjustified RECORD HIGH GAS Prices resulting in RECORD PROFITS month after month?

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO BE HEARD

ALL across the Country at precisely 11:17 and for 17 continuous minutes, we will have a NATIONAL CALL IN - (if possible use your cell phone and land line at the same time) - FAX IN, TEXT MESSAGE IN, E-MAIL IN, while driving safely, HONK IN, LIGHTS FLASHING IN, SLOW DRIVING IN. If you are working at a sit down job STAND UP while calling IN, and vice versa if your job is a stand-up-type job, CALL the OIL COMPANIES, call your U.S. Senator or House of Representative Rep.

INFORM them you are tired of excuses and investigations and enough is enough. Let them know you intend to vote for people who will be effective in passing a winfall tax on record profits. Let them know WE THE PEOPLE OWN THIS COUNTRY, not BIG OIL.

Be sure to let them know how the unfair high gas prices have affected your life and lifestyle in your own words. Keep calling, text messaging, e-mailing, honking, flashing lights, standing up or sitting down for 17 minutes. If we do it right, you will be getting a lot of busy signals, slow internet, maybe freeway slowdowns HMMM? If we do it right, WE THE PEOPLE can and will be heard. Here are some telephone numbers:

Long Beach Council balks on $2 billion truck lease
PHP-Nuke
tlc_500 writes "http://www.landlinemag.com/todays_news/Daily/2008/Jul08/070708/071108-07.htm

Long Beach Council balks on $2 billion truck lease program The Long Beach City Council has reportedly agreed to reconsider the port’s truck replacement plan because of disagreement about the plan’s financing.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported this past week that Council members voted 6-0 to revisit the $2 billion financing portion of the port’s clean truck plan by the end of the summer.

The financing plan calls for drivers to be eligible for partially subsidized loans to obtain newer, cleaner-burning trucks with late model engines.

“I don’t think it makes fiscal sense or serves the public interest to lend money to these low-income drivers who are going to find it very difficult to meet their monthly payments,” The Press Telegram quoted Candace Kim of the Coalition for Clean Air. “If I were an elected official, I would want to make sure that the truck replacement program is going to work in the long term. ”

The Port of Long Beach recently agreed to allow Daimler Financial Services for an estimated $2 billion in loans to local drayage drivers.

All trucks working at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles will be required to meet 2007 emissions standards by the year 2012.
